Stud High Low is basic Seven Card Stud played with a winner for the high hand and a winner for the low hand. The best five card hand wins the pot. Eight is the highest low card possible. The poker game begins with the ante from all players. The amount of the ante is based on house rules as are the amounts of the bets. Then the dealer deals each player two cards face down and one card face up. The lowest face-up card is called the “bring in” and the player is required to bet either half or a full small bet. If there is a tie for the low card on board, then there are rules based on suits. The order of suits is spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. The clubs suit would represent the lowest card.
The dealer deals another face up card to each player. This is called the “Fourth Street”. A round of betting ensues, with the high face-up hand beginning the betting. They can only bet big bets if a pair is showing. The dealer now deals the “Fifth Street” card, face up and another round of betting takes place. All bets are now big bets. The “Sixth Street” card is then dealt face-up followed by another round of betting. The final card is dealt face down to all active players. The final round of betting is begun by the player with the highest hand showing. After the end of the betting, the players reveal their hands in proper order. The pot is split between the winning high hand and the winning low hand. If there is no low hand, the winner of the high hand wins the entire pot.
