History of the Game
Bingo is not a new game; it has been around for centuries. The game of online bingo UK can trace its roots back to the sixteenth century Italian national lottery called the Lo Giucco del Lotto D'Italia. This game was not only extremely popular throughout Italy, its popularity spread across the Continent by the seventeen hundreds. Despite its popularity with the population, the game was not popular with the Catholic Church, which wanted it banned. Instead of being banned, it evolved into a game played on rectangular tickets with nine columns and three rows.

The nine vertical columns have numbers from the following ranges: first, numbers 1-10; second, numbers 11-20; third, numbers 21-30; fourth, numbers 31-40; fifth, numbers 41-50; sixth, numbers 51-60; seventh, numbers 61-70; eighth, numbers 71-80; and the ninth, numbers 81-90. There are five numbers in each row with the remainder of the spaces left blank. This British version of the game is played in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia.

The game migrated to America in the 1800s where it became knows as bingo game. The discs with the numbers were pulled for a cigar box by the bingo caller. If the players had any of the numbers, they covered them with beans. The game was known as Beano.

Toy salesman Edwin Lowe restructured the UK bingo game into seventy five numbers played on a five number by five number grid with the letters of the word bingo across the top. The letters have the following ranges: B, number 1-15; I, number 16-30; N, numbers 3-45; G, number 46-60 and O has number 6-75. He and a mathematician developed six thousand unique cards.
